Everyday we dance a little closer

The TopShop Event was actually pretty good, and not as mobbed as we thought it would be! I got a striped top with gold buttons on the shoulders, pretty pretty!
The top couple of pictures show what we were wearing. White cardi from topshop, purple paisley top from Zara and bodycon skirt thing from H&M.

The last picture shows this blazer that I loved, it had the super structured shoulder thing going aka Balmain and the tartan was just so funny! But they had none left in my size, I'm wearing the one in a size too big so it doesn't look so fitted..:( It's winter weather already and I'm still wearing summer clothes, *sigh*

Some late night shopping is always on the cards

Yay I can't wait until tomorrow. My local TopShop is having a student discount night thingummy, students get 20% off. SWEET. So I'm going tomorrow night with my friend, and I'm soo excited! It'll be completely jampacked mobbed, but still...it's a topshop event with discounts...who can resist! I'll put up pictures of our outfits and such like tomorrow!
On the topic of topshop, anyone else pretty disappointed with the Christopher Kane for Topshop stuff? I mean, the shoes are pretty nice, but there isn't alot of variety of clothes. Sigh.

On the Runway: Fall 2009

I really like autumn/winter, everything is layered and dark and slightily gothic and rock and roll, all wrapped up into one. Here are some of the collections I really like this year.

Okay, so Balmain is always a favourite, and this year I'm lusting after these blazers with the statement shoulders. Whether they're leather, or sequined or just plain blazers, they're structure is amazing and they add something different to the masculine blazers which we're seeing all over the runway. There's also something futuristic about them....

Hmm, fur. I love love love all the massive fur jackets (yeti jackets) on the runways. I mean come, they look super toasty and you'll never worry about being cold again, AND they're sure to make your legs look pin like. What could be better? In the Sonia Rykiel collection, there's loads of bold colours being injected into the black outfits, as well as bold patterns. The coral fur jacket is amazing, I really like the shape of the collar, and look at the platforms...!!!!

This is the Burberry Prorsum menswear collection. Wouldn't you fall in love with any of these beautiful boys? Just look at them, there's that hint of roughness with the flatcaps and the greatcoats and leather, they could have come straight out of the Industrial Revolution or something. But then there's that sense of gentlemanlyness and sophistication too, the velvet blazers, fitted jackets and trousers, dress shirts. The refinement is all there.

The Louis Vuitton collection was great. Bunny ears, leather, sky high thigh boots, statement jewellery, great structured peices....what more do you want? Note the injections of colours too, not everything has to be about black black black!

So the Stella McCartney collection was pretty sombre and tailored this fall. But you've got to love the long blazers, especially in that red colour, and their masculinity contrasts nicely with the leather leggings.

Exciting.....!

Whilst doing a bit of browsing on Polyvore today, I came across this website. LOOK at the ads, aren't they just SO cool? Its called Shop Fruition and their clothes are all really colourful and radge. And the background for the picture is gorgeous, I would LOVE to have that wallpaper in my room!

we sit under the stars like spacemen

I got a new skirt in the summer, from Zara. It's an odd little thing because it's kind of formal but kind of casual too, like, if you wear it, your outfit's always going to be a little too smart or a little too casual. Wierd, but cool. I actually need to get some more skirts, I don't own that many, especially not one's that can be worn in autumn/winter.
The striped tee used to be this ankle length night gown I found in my house. I just cut off the bottom bit, made the neckline wider and lower and cut off the sleeves. Hey presto, one striped tee.
And finally...my hairs is long enough to wear in a side plait! It's quite exciting really, my hair has never been this long before :)

you and me we'll live forever, live forever young

Apparently I look like some old school american gangster in this picture....? I think it's the checked shirt with collars over the blazer that does it.
And isn't that awesome wall paper in the backgound? Different versions of it can be found on certain walls in my house, totally random but ever so cool!

does she attract you, distract you?

Going out tonight, just to a wee party of a friends. So dressing casually and since the weather is pretty cold, I dug out my lovely warm Nike's this morning. They are awesome and since I refuse to wear Uggs outside my house...they are perfect for keeping my feet toasty. I'm wearing a grey Zara cardigan, Zara top, H&M jeans, Nike hightops, Owl necklace from china

The sad thing is I actually got these Nike's to play basketball, wayyy back in Primary school. But now they are just amazing Nike high tops which everyone wants. They were super cheap as well which makes me even happier since people buy them for LOADS of money now. Haha.

Friday 4 September 2009

my arm's look really really odd in this picture. But I like it, the teesh says Make Music Not Missiles. I 'borrowed' it from a friend, I've had it for about a year now and still not given it back haha. Oops.
And the skirt is h&m, it's slightily see through in sunlight.....

man it feels good to be back

Ahhhhhh, I've been away for so long. It's crazy. and a rather longgg story so let's just be glad that I'm back! Hurrah, though I have not alot of new pictures or anything...sooo busy with school lately, so much art to do :( But here's one I took before summer. Blazer belongs to mum, h&m high waisted shorts, random white tee which I drew on myself, and a trinket from some holiday somewhere!

Friday 12 June 2009

:hmm haven't posted in a while, been back at school this week and REALLY don't have the energy to do very much...even though i've been doing absolutely zilch in classes anyways :(
going away for my duke of edinburgh expedition for a whole week starting sunday...argh three days of intense walking and midges here i come :D
i came second in a Polyvore competition the other day! It was one for sports and i made a set using blue red and white for british sports and such. What's funny is that it's one of the first sets i made..but i think it represents us quite well. With the white trainers and british airways bag...gold chains haha
I think i will start posting more fashion pictures of myself and friends during summertime. Right now i just don't have the space or time to take pictures but i will have LOTS of time in summer so just watch this space :)

Saturday 6 June 2009

so damn tired but the bed keeps moving away

I just got back from a school trip last night! Hah it was a physics trip to alton towers, it was sooo much fun, though 48 hours of no sleep was abit of a downer :( my favourite rides were Oblivion which is basically like a vertical drop down, it last for pretty much 3 seconds but the rush is amazing :) then there was Nemesis which just includes tons of loop the loops and upside down moments which was awesome. So basically, i LOVE rollercoasters xD but we had to leave the school at like 12 midnight on thursday and we got back last night at half twelve.. so completely knackered...urgh.
here are some more polyvore sets. I've made quite a few since last time but here's some of my favs :) I'm really enjoying polyvore right now, and i've got over 200 favourites AND i came 8th in a contest...so quite happy hehe
The one with the red velvet blazer is inspired by boarding schools and the whole idea of prefects and the 'elite'. I love the black shoes, they are vivienne westwood and i would kill to be able to wear them for school :D
The one with the paisley dress was the one that came 8th in a Pastel Hippie competition. I'm such a fan of anything paisley and dont you think the shoes are so cute? The model in the picture is Ali Michael who I'm a fan of.

a little peice of make belief never hurt no one

and the crazy kids play with the mermaids
and the crazy kids play with the mermaids by mintyyy featuring Nike shoes

here's two more sets i made today on polyvore :) quite different styles i know but i kinda aspire to be both. One is quirky and loads of fun..the kind of person who looks cool in anything and wears whatever they want, quite childish in some ways. I saw the photoshoot with lily cole in Vogue i think and was totally drawn in by the fairytale like but quirky outfits, and lily cole just adds that ephemeral, delicate touch as always.
The other set reflects the sophisticated cool side of me. I love the blazer with its wide lapels and it has such a good cut, the androgynous look sometimes really appeals to me. It would be someone who wears a simple black outfit with a few gold accessories but still stands out. I love Daisy Lowe and i think she would definitely be one of those people.

those suncrazed kids

Haha, i love love love this awesome weather, fingers crossed it stays! Though i have the most awesome/horrendous sunglasses tan line on my face, must NOT let my face get anymore tanned or i will look incredibly silly! Hmm just doing some last minute stressing for my LAST exam on wednesday...its chemistry so it shouldnt be bad but i didn't do any revision over the weekend and am now regretting it..!!

Got some pretty new necklaces, well actually there not new, i just DIYed abit with them and made them more wearable :) i took the white flower off another necklace and just pinned the two strands of the gold necklace together, i really really like it now! And the one with the cluster of pearls used to have a pendant on one end and the pearls were on the other end meant to be worn so they were behind you neck but i took off the other pendant and tied a knot in the middle of the strands so i could wear the cluster of pearls at the front.

and then there's some pictures of our "revision day"/picnic and messing around in a kids playpark...we stuck to the swings so we didn't look like complete thugs haha

i had a lust, i had a firecracker

Hmm, long time no post :( Been busy with exams all week but finally free....well, until next week but i only have one left and thats next wednesday so huzzaah!

I've just discovered Polyvore which is ever so exciting, I'll be playing around on it for abit, haha great distraction from revision!
The picture was taken on my phone in Topshop so the quality isn't so great but I ended up buying the things I'm wearing in it so I thought I'd show you. The cardigan is this awesome dark green colour and I've always wanted to own clothes that exact colour of green so it had to be bought. The leggings have little multicoloured hearts all over them, they were five pounds reduced from twenty so how could i resist? My friend is wearing a really nicely shaped shirtdress, it looks like a nightgown in the picture but in reality its super sophisticated and is all silky and nice.

Monday 11 May 2009

i've never seen you fall so hard

I wore this the other day to go meet my friend to give her an overdue birthday present. I couldn't decide between the green pleated belt or the red stretch one with the butterfly...in the end i stuck with the green belt. The black jacket is velvet and has this amazing lace detail in the hood, I found it at the same shop where I bought my fatman on a goldfish jumper haha. The dress is jersey but I got it at a charity shop so no idea where it's from, its rather long though...but i like it.

Monday 4 May 2009

do you suppose she's a wildflower?

Clearing out my closet, I found this skirt I bought a few years back. It's actually supposed to be worn on the hips (!) but thought I'd update it a little and so we have this waist skirt. The belt is one I bought for two pounds at a charity shop, black vest is H&M and so is the cardigan. As always, the trusty key pendant necklace is on show.

Sunday 3 May 2009

i bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow

I bought this blue jumper in China at Easter time, it's quite small but it was super cheap so I coudn't resist. It's by a Japanese brand and I fell for picture of the fatman on the goldfish as soon as I saw it haha. Dug out some of my beads from last summer, could only find the mulitcoloured ones, I had some pink and yellow ones as well...need to hunt them out.

Fall back into my life

Canadian actress and fashion model Estella Warren for Chanel No.5 in 1999, photo by Jean Paul Goude
One of four Andy Warhol silkscreen prints from 1996 - beach scene brights of sandy yellow and dark sky blue - these were meant to signify how No.5 couldnt be used for any occasion.

Aren't these old Chanel No.5 perfume adverts just amazing? Black and white just adds so much elegance and grace to the pictures...and the girls are so classically glamorous, so Hollywood... before it became trashy.

Eyes On Fire

Being a recent Twilight convert/addict, I thought I'd share these rather beautiful pictures of some of Twilight's cast. They were on Vanity Fair a few weeks ago.

Kristen Stewarts looks really nice in them, her hair is all volumous and shiny...a nice change from the film where it's just abit lank and dull. Rob Pattinson looks as lovely as ever, I think I prefer this look to Edward Cullen's look in the film. And yes I'm going to admit, I'm on TEAM JACOB. Haha it's rebellious I know, but Taylor Lautner is just amazing with short hair, and werewolves are just so damn cool. Not that I would say no to my own personal Edward but still....

And I like tweed trousers on men, actually tweed anything is fine by me...as long as it's tweed haha.
